If you don't believe global warming is real and happening, then...?
...do you also think that we humans do not impact our environment? Do you think we can carry on any way we please with no consequences because nature will heal itself?
I am still trying to learn as much as I can about global warming and i am very concerned that those who say they think it is scientifically impossible (in my experience) don't seem to care to take any actions to protect our environment. So I was just wondering how many of you DO care. I notice that the posters here on YA who always throw a negitive into any conversation about global warming did not post an answer here. What's up guys?
Awayfrom thelight, you are right people are taking better care of things and I am elated by it since I have been an enviromentalist for about 30 years and haven't seen much action since the whole CFC thing, which also got taken care of!

I think that humans do more to save the environment than just leaving it to mother nature! Because human beings put out forest fires we have less crap in the air! Before humans increased in sufficient numbers to put out forest and prairie fires those fires would burn for years!
There have been times in our recent past where our Earth was even warmer than it is today! When glaciers melt in Europe archaeologists find evidence of past human civilization being in that area and then the ice came! Both polar bears and humans managed to survive this time period when it was even much hotter than it is now!
In Canada where the permafrost is melting and softening up in some areas scientists examining the various layers of sediment and old soil can see that this warming and cooling has been present for thousands of years!
In America we have more trees now than 100 years ago! We have more polar bears now than 25 years ago too! And Antarctica is a huge continent - larger than the United States and larger than Europe - why wouldn't bits and pieces fall off at the very extremes? This has been recorded as being normal for hundreds of years - perhaps for tens of thousands of years! Isn't Florida in the US much hotter than Maine in the US - isn't this normal? Why isn't the outer edges of Antarctica getting a little soft not be normal?
Since our Earth over the past millions and millions of years have endured tens of thousands of global warmings - why would it be unusual to have another "normal" global warming period? How can we blame human beings for something that would happen with or without humans being on Earth?
This doesn't mean that humans should not try to keep the water and air clean or conserve but we don't have to go all wacky going about life!
Global warming would take place with or without any humans being on Earth, global warming is also taking place on Mars and no one can blame that on Bush or SUV's!

The mistake many global warming advocates make is trying to put manmade global warming on the same level as pollution. Obviously, mankind has a vested interest in cleaning up after ourselves. We learned that as kids when we had to clean up our rooms... and the principle hasn't changed. So OF COURSE we should work to keep the air, water, etc., clean.
But to say that localized pollution leads to catastrophic global warming is a HUGE stretch and just simply doesn't add up with the evidence. Actually, Nature will heal herself... given time. So our interest should be in fixing the LOCAL problems that are effecting us locally... and stop worrying that somehow the whole planet is going up in a furnace as a result of our stupidity.
Sorry... that's just ludicrous.

I'm assuming you're one of those global warming hard-core fans who's trying to persuade me...
where do I stand on global warming? I don't know. The middle?
I see both sides. Yes, there are definite signs of climate changes going on...ice melting, polar bears dying, etc. And yes, this similar situation did happen hundreds of years ago.
Although I'm not 100% with global warming, I do think that it's doing lots of great things for Planet Earth. People are actually taking better care of it, can you believe that? So even if it is just some big hoax or what not, hey, it's getting people to do the right thing.
and I know I won't get the points because I didn't fully agree with you or say what you wanted me to but I just thought I'd put it out there :)

Global warming is happening, but not because of human causes. I am not saying we do not have an impact on environment. However, global warming is not caused by humans.
During the sixties people and environmentalists used to say global temperature would drop dramatically, due to human causes (pollution, deforestation, etc.) And yet, the temperature did not drop.
Weather changes are only partially predictable. And global weather is definitely not predictable.
As to if "we can carry on any way we please with no consequences because nature will heal itself?" I think we can't do it. But the question has nothing to do with global warming anyway.
