What does moderate mean? Coming from Tokyo or NYC moderate may be a place around $50 per night. Do you have a particular baht amount you do not want to exceed?

In the meantime you can check out this hotel, the Montri Hotel.

The Montri is located not far from good restaurants, internet shops, Seven Eleven type stores, travel agencies for tours and right across from the Thapae Gate where they have a flea market. Short walk to night market (flea market has some of the same things cheaper.)

You can check this link for cheap hostels, found it on Google!

Some of the places in this link could be far from the city and any money you save will be wasted in taxi fare!

    Good luck.

Source(s): You can probably call some of these places from Bangkok and reserve a room. Prices on this link may be a little low. http://www.chiangmai1.com/chiang_mai/guesthouses_i...
