Why most Virus's are generated in Universities?

To understand a virus and how it will work, you must create one. That is why most students doing IT diplomas are given assignments to write a virus? They should also create a cure. The free AV programs are only as good as their writers and designers, that is why they say "basic protection only" to cover themselves against liability.
