Drank out of date soymilk?
Hi there, yesterday I drank some silk shelf stable soymilk (last up to a year unrefrigerated ) anyway was fine, even though is shelf stable I keep it refrigerated, next day I drank some more, and realized the label said *best before september 08 * is January 09 now! It didn't taste bad or anything so I hardly even realized! the milk from the same batch I drank the night before did me no harm, but is there a chance I could get very sick from this and it's just not kicked in?

I wouldn't drink it as it is beyond the expiration date and is most likely spoiled. FYI from the silk website: Silk Soymilk will keep fresh in your refrigerator unopened until the date stamped on the top of the carton. Once opened, Silk will stay fresh for seven to 10 days if kept refrigerated. It is not unusual for Silk to remain good past the 10-day mark; however, we only guarantee that it will be good for seven to 10 days.

When something spoils you can usually tell by the bad smell and it coagulates (gets thick and lumpy) when you pour it. So if you were going to get sick from it you would have by now, since it's been a couple of days. *Consider yourself blessed, It looks like 2009 is going to be a your year! ;)

The worst that can happen is vomiting or loose bowel, that's about it
Like all foods, paying attention to expiration dates is important, but in this case, if you are not sick, don't worry. But do, get some new soy.

I'm sure if you haven't gotten sick from it, you'll be fine. I'd still throw it out if you haven't yet!
Good Luck on not getting sick!!

It can be hours or even days until it kicks in.
