Why does Bitlord/Bitcomet/uTorrent make my internet connection so slow?? ?

I usually use BitLord but this problem happens whatever download program I use. My internet connection becomes incredibly slow when I'm downloading. Even though my download and upload speed on Bitlord is not very high either. I've tried loads of suggestions off google about changing the download and upload max limits and port settings but nothing works. This problem happens when I'm using IE7 and Firefox and any website I visit is very slow. Does anyone know why this is??? Or even how to increase my speeds??

The answer to this depends on the speed of your internet connection and how fast your pc is and how many programs you have running at the same time. There is no single answer to this question.

If you have many programs in startup, that slows down the system.

If you dont have enough ram chips in your pc..that slows down the system.

If your hard drive hasnt been defragged in a long time, that slows down the system.

If you have viruses/spyware, that slows down the system.

How fast is your internet connection? There are widely different speeds you can get..how many people are sharing that connection at the same time?

    Lots to think about.

I used to be able to d/l at about 2.0mbps and be able to surf with ease, C/NET internet speed test would show my speed at 15-16.mbps, now everything stops..bitlord and any internet connect..and the wireless...everything just bogs down to a big 0.0kbps on bitlord and pages take 3-4 minutes to load on mozilla

Idk if this is very helpful but maybe it can speed up ur internet browsers, right click the file that ur downloading ,go to Bandwidth Allocation and set it to low( this will slow down ur downloads a bit but lets u use internet explorer and firefox quicker). to increase ur download speeds check this site http://www.johntp.com/2006/04/19/how-to-increase-d... ,u can also download faster if u set ur Bandwidth Allocation to High(use this set while not using the computer for anything else), hope this helps.

If you have the settings set to maximum upload and download, it is using as much bandwidth as it can, so it leaves only a little to browse the net. Turn your settings down or pause it all when you need to.
