I think I would just say hi, remember me from the shoe store? How are you? Keep it simple...I wouldn't pretend I'm texting because he was helpful, I would make it obvious that I'm texting because I want to talk to him.

well normally, you should give him your number to see what he does first. But under the circumstances, I wouldn't text first. I would call him real quick, and talk for like 30 secs. and then wait for him to call the next time. And he should call. Hopefully he wouldnt text.
