Are cheerios bad for dogs and/or cats?

I'm talking specifically about honey nut cheerios. The reason I ask is that I have a dog and two cats (one is a kitten). Every Sunday, the kitten gets sick and gets diarrhea.

It's only the one day, and then she is fine until the next week. So I've been trying to figure out what she could be eating that could be doing this. I have a set food schedule because I don't like to think about what I'm going to be making for dinner (I live alone).

And on Sundays, I have a bowl of cheerios (favorite cereal). I never give my animals any table food. But today when I was eating, I realized that my shaking problem was tossing a few cheerios out of the spoon and that some of them fell to the floor.

I usually sweep them up right after I finish eating, but it turns out the dogs and both cats were sneaking under the table and eating some of those cheerios. I can't think of anything else that could be making the kitten sick.

Only thing is, the other cat and the dog are not getting sick. So I'm wondering if maybe my kitten is allergic, or maybe the other cat just has a stronger stomach. And most of all, are cheerios dangerous for them like chocolate or something like that?

Actually, it's probably the milk that's soaked into the cheerios. Cats are lactose intolerant, and while a little won't hurt them, a kitten's a lot smaller than a cat, so it's getting a higher dose, in effect. Diarrhea is a side effect of lactose intolerance.

Of course, the way to be sure of this is to lock the pets while you eat your cereal, and make sure to sweep up afterward, before letting them out. If the kitten doesn't get sick, you've found the problem.

Cheerios are pretty safe unless the dog is small and the 25 Cheerios is most of the dogs daily diet. I know allot of people that use Cheerios to do dog training. I know my dog would rather have meat.

Cheerios shouldn't be a problem for dogs or cats in small amounts. I'm not sure about the allergy.

cheerios shouldnt cause a cat or dog to be sick. i have fed a few dry cheerios to my cat before and he was just fine with them.

Cheerios aren't bad unless you give it to them a lot. Its the milk. When cats that aren't use to drinking milk do drink the milk it makes their stomachs upset.
