Why is everyone saying my baby is gaining too much weight?
My nearly 3 month old named Kadin weighs 16 pounds and is 24 inches long. She's on 6 ounces of formula every 4 hours and sleeps all night so she only eats during the day. I have given her cereal from time to time but I usually don't need it and my family, friends, and people I meet are saying she's fat. Anyone else think she's just fine? or is it just me?
Here's her picture http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c36/raihnebeau/N...
She was born at 8 1/2 pounds and 21 1/2 inches long. Doctor hasn't mentioned her weight any of the time I've seen her just said that she's tall for her age and that she's average height and weight for a 4 to 5 month old. But the weight is proportioned well for her height.

She is an adorable little chunker! I absolutely love fat little babies! She looks like a big girl, but I don't mean that with any negativity! My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and is over 16lbs and 25 inches long. She's a good eater, she eats 5 oz of bottled breast milk every 2-4 hours and sleeps through the night.
Babies are meant to be chunky at this age. It gives them a little extra to burn off once they start cruising around.

A lot of babies start off like that. They look very large with rolls. My son was like that also. He didn't have wrist or ankles he had so many rolls. But as soon as babies become more active such as sitting up and starting to crawl they will shed all that weight quickly. Right now your baby is too little to do a lot of activity. Between 6 months and 2 years they will become very skinny. Since they will be too busy to eat. So don't worry unless your baby doubles its weight in less than a month. I'm sure her doctor isn't worried.

She's a cutie pie!
Nevermind what people say. Are they doctors? My son was 17 lbs. at 4 months and people said that was big. He's slowed down TONS on his weight gain since he's more mobile(rolling, scooting, rocking on hands and knees). He's 9 months old and has only gained a pound since 7 months, whereas before then he was gaining a pound a month.
As long as her doctor hasn't questioned her weight gain then I wouldn't worry about it. Really, who calls a baby fat?

I think she is beautiful! Everyone says my son is chubby, he is almost 2 months and weights about 11 lbs... he eats 4-5 ounces every 4 hours already... I don't care, I just feed him when he's hungry and screw what everyone else thinks.
Chunky just means healthy.
She will thin out when she starts crawling/walking, she looks prefectly normal and healthy to me.

shes lovely!!!!
better to be round than with bones sticking out!!
as long as your feeding her just to keep her quiet then theres no problen AT ALL.
my friend had a little girl who was on the chubby side when se was a baby and everyone used to laugh/joke about her.
she is now 4, with a perfect little body.
as soon as your little one starts moving (which was longer than most for my friends wee girl lol!!) the weight will come off.
you should be very proud.
i'm 11 weeks preggers and if i have a girl and is half as cute as yours i'll be happy!!! xx

Ooh! She is so precious! Honestly, she is a long baby--2 feet long already. I am sure you have brought this to your ped's attention during her well-baby visits, so I would just take his or her advice and not worry too much about it. It's not like she is CONSTANTLY eating and waking up at all hours to feed. People can be so rude, it's not their place to tell you what your baby's growth should or shouln't be.
Just enjoy your baby, keep taking her to her visits, and relax :)
blessings.

she is chubby :) but that's not a bad thing- when someone tells you that tell them to shove it. after my son was born my boss asked why he was so small and if i fed him ( he weighed 5.13 at the time) i was like umm yeah but he was aslo a month early. at 3 months he weighed 13 pounds 5 ounces. bitrh weight has a lot to do with it too.babies need a little extra weight on them

She is a little, okay a lot, on the chubby side. That being said, talk to your doctor. If he/she says she's fine, then don't worry about it, and tell your friends and family to mind their own business, in a nice way of course!

she's cute, but i'm not going to lie. you're baby is BIG for her age and height. i think you need to cut back on the formula. my baby was getting really big and i had to cut back per doctor's ordres and guess what, he didnt need as much formula as i thought. i started playing him and entertaing him and he cut back instead of drinking more formula. just do 5oz every 4 hours.
