Do I need a reference to rent if I am a landlord?

I own a house I currently live in and rent out to another tennant.

I need to move into a flat elsewhere but as I have been my own landlord I have no references. How can I get around not having a reference? Do I even need one?

I was in your situation a while back. I had to give employment & personal references, & I showed utility bills that were in my name from the property that I owned.

It's easy to find out if you own the property you're moving out of. It's public record, so the people where you're moving to can check it out by way of computer. They also did a credit check on me.

I am 54 years old and have lived all over in a few states..I have NEVER had to have any references at all..but I do know that alot of apartment complexes and rental agencies may require one..but it is not tottaly necessary..it depends on who is renting the place

You need bank and employment references, just like everyone else.
