Questions on income taxes?

I usually do my own taxes each year online using free efile. This year though, I need help! I got married on May 31, so I know we are going to file married, jointly. I make about 28k, he makes about 30k. We also have a child, who in the past I have been eligible for EIC for. Did I earn any EIC this year? (Before the marriage obviously) Also-hubby has an HSA through his job that covers all of us. I know we will receive a statement from them to file our taxes. I know I need form 8889 for this, but will this affect me being able to file online? We also have a mortgage, in both our names. We purchased the house in 4/07 so he claimed the property tax & interest stuff on his return. I am scared about not being able to do the step-by-step online this year because the forms are complicated! Does anyone have any advice for me?

Update:

Wayne~

In regards to the EIC~since from 1/1/08-5/30/08 I was not married, didn't I earn EIC? Or since I got married this year, none of it will count?

I would recommend TaxCut by H&R Block. It's an online prep program that "interviews" you about your situation, automatically selects and completes the forms appropriate to your situation. Some versions (like the premium version) even include a free federal e-File. I switched from the more expensive TurboTax several years ago, and I love it.

    1) No more EIC. Combined, you make too much for it and Married people who file separately do not qualify for it.

    2) The HSA really isn't that hard except getting the numbers to go in the right place on the forms. That can be really tricky.

Maybe it is time to think about using a professional. It may be well worth the price and time.

Your better off getting an accountant. If your interested let me know. I know a good CPA that you can work with.

TurboTax is the way to go.
