Any tips on removal and installation of a slave Cylinder for the Clutch of a 92 Ford Explorer?

My Friend has one but she's out of work right now so i was going to fix it for her by getting the parts at the dealer, any tips ideas, by the way i am going to school for this so i need to learn anyways but i hate when people say take it to a real mechanic...(no duh)..?

Update:

Ok first of all the dealer is the best place to get the parts considering they are original and second that was not the question i need to fix the maybe the part that is connected to the Clutch pedal which a push rod goes into. anyhow the book don't say anything about this.

You need to look at the cylinder. Is it attached to the outside of the trans housing or inside. Outside is not bad the only issue is the easy remove hose clip that does not work on many Fords. My Ranger< darn near torn the hose apart trying to release the clip piece.

If the slave is inside the trans housing this requires you to drop the drive shaft and pull back the trans housing at least 2 feet, pull off the throw-out pulley (bearing) and then you have access to the slave. The ranger slave (97 Ranger) was inside the housing.

Because I was doing the clutch job on the Ranger I had to tilt the engine down in back to release the two bolts on the top of the housing. This was a tool problem for me as the extensions ended up being over 2 feet long to reach the bolts.

If the Slave is in the trans housing and you are a good person with auto tools expect no less then 2 days in a Private garage or more.

If the slave is out side the trans housing (and the Hose release behaves) expect the job to take no less then 3 hours with clean up.

Also you will need a second person to prime the clutch and bleed it. Very much like bleeding brakes.

Slave cylinder is interior the bellhousing on those Mazda 5-speeds interior the Ranger and Exploder clones. in case you won't be in a position to jack up the Exploder and simplicity the trans out from below, do no longer difficulty studying in this one...it would desire to be the final one you study on while you're no longer careful.

Slave cylinder is inside the bellhousing on those Mazda 5-speeds in the Ranger and Exploder clones.

If you can't jack up the Exploder and ease the trans out from underneath, don't bother learning on this one...it may be the last one you learn on if you are not careful.

honestly if you want to do it yourself, got to a local parts store such as advance auto, auto zone, or pep boys and pick up either a haynes or a chilton repair manual for that vehicle, it will give you pointers and tips, along with showing you how to do it, those books usually cost anywhere between $20-$50 depending on where you get them.
