Will tabasco sauce make my dog stop licking his feet?
I have a 80 lbs american bulldog that has allergies, so we switched his food 4 weeks ago now i know it can take up to 8 weeks to see results. So what can i do in the meantime to keep him from licking his feed raw! I have tried a couple anti itch sprays for dogs feet but they are not working. Any one ever try tabasco sauce or anything else that stops there dog from licking there feet? We have a vet appointment next week and are looking for something that willl work in the mean time.

I doubt that Tobasco sauce will help. After it dries, it loses much of the burning effect. However, there is a product called Bitter Apple that just may do the trick. I hve had a lot of success using it to keep my dogs away from things I don't want them to get into. It comes in a spray form and will not harm your dog. You can buy it at most any pet store. Good Luck to you

All dogs play rough. However if his play is borderline aggressive or if he is actually HURTING the other dogs due to his exuberance, then i would stop bringing him to the park immediately. Learn here https://tr.im/uPp6S
It's your job as his owner to keep him under control, and if you can't so that then you shouldn't be bringing him someplace where he could get into trouble.
How often does he get walked? As a high energy breed he should be walked twice a day for as long as he can stand it. Jogging is even better. You can't count on the park to be your only way of exercising him because he obviously is not ready for it (based on the behavior you describe.)
So start walking him every morning and evening. Enroll in an obedience class with a qualified instructor (i would find a private training facility as opposed to one at Petsmart - as good as some of those trainers can be, they're mainly for easy-to-train dogs and don't specialize in herding breeds OR dogs that may have aggression issues) and he/she will show you how to teach your dog how to come.

Tabasco sauce is going to burn the inflamed skin of your dog. Don't do it. It will be very painful for him. Pet smart has an anti lick/chew product that is formulated by a vet that is not supposed to sting. I think it is called Yuck. It was developed especially for this.

Tabasco sauce will just irritate the area even more and cause more harm.
Get some antihistamine tablets, l get Cetirizine tablets from the vet that help with the itching, and also an antiseptic cooling spray called Dermacool that helps to cleanse and soothe the hot spots.
Has the vet diagnosed that it is a food allergy, changing the food 4 weeks ago should have made a difference by now, maybe he has allergies to other things as well?

Putting Tabasco sauce on your dogs paws is cruel. He's not a person and can tell you what's wrong. Typically if he is licking his paws like my dog - it is an allergy. Take him to the vet - get a clue!

if there's any skin irritation don't put tabasco sauce or bitter apple spray on it. it will really sting. there are anti itch washes you can buy at your vets, if you could stop buy to get it before next week.
i've heard it takes 4-5 weeks after you change a new food when allergies are concerned, not 8 weeks. what kind of food? wellness makes single protein foods like venison and rice. i'd recommend to try that one or try homecooked or raw food diet after researching. dogs with chronic illness/allergies do so well on raw diets.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUCCN
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

No, that would be cruel. Have you tried taking a warm wet washrag and wiping his feet off really well, get Between the toe pads ? Do this every time he comes in from outside. Also, an oral antihistamine would help. My littlest Chi had this problem and actually caused a lick granuloma, looked like a tumor on the top of her foot. I started feeding California Natural Organic Lam with Brown Rice and after a course of antihistamine and steroid the granuloma went away and now she doesn't lick her feet, unless she's been outside a while, then I just wash her feet.

No, don't put tabasco sauce on your dog! Call your vet and get the poor dog an allergy shot! The tabasco sauce will burn your dog. how would you like for your feet to be itching and not be able to scratch it!
