Doctors or other real medical people out there?
My son was put on 54 mg Concerta. We started him on Friday. By Sunday he was hallucinating spiders everywhere in his room, then bee sounds. He didn't sleep all night. Monday the same thing. Tonight he hallucinated that our corn stalks were giant preying mantis. He is really seeing these things. Very scared, crying etc. I am taking him off the meds. Yes have contacted doctors to see if this is ok, but none have called back after 3 hours of waiting. So my question is... Is it ok to take him off cold turkey? He has only been on since Friday. That is 5 pills. On the 27 mg, he was paranoid about someone breaking in the house, but he would at least get to sleep and sleep through the night. Now he prowls, leaving lights on, waking people up asking if he can sleep with them etc.
He is 9 years old. I didn't want him to be on any meds, but he is really having a tough time with his attention and noises he makes, disruptions etc. This has convinced me to not go the medicated route. So if anyone has any natural ways to help please let me know. And yes we are doing behavioural modifications.
Now that I think back on things, we started him at a low dosage, in September and there were some signs then. He was seeing spiders on his bike and completel fearful. Also a new inexplainable irrational fear of someone breaking in. And a fear of being upstairs alone.
