Hamster/mouse- startup cost would only be $60 or so for ham, cage, food and bedding.

Reptiles are animals. Look it up. I think you need a few more biology lessons before you buy an animal. Also, are you aware that vet fees, even for a ten dollar rat, can run into the thousands? if you cant afford the vet (or the food, or the cage, or the toys), you cant afford the pet. Buying the animal is just a fraction of the total cost of keeping pets.

You need to think about the ongoing costs of a pet (food, vet, toys, bedding etc).

A mouse, rat or hamster is cheap to buy but you need to get them a decent set up. They need a cage that is comfortable in size, decent food and things to chew and hide in. They can become quite cuddly if you spend time with them. Check out your local pet store for the cost (shop around). They are probably the cheapest to set up and the cheapest to take care of, so a rodent is what I suggest.

You need to research different pets,

Go to google and look at small animal articles.

Any animal would take alot of care and love, not just, I want an animal!

Do your research and find the pet that would be best for you.

Thats what I did and I came up with a Ferret and Fennec Fox.

Saki (Home) and Harley (soon to come)

You realize that there will be ongoing costs for these animals, right? Animals require new food, bedding, toys, etc....

    Hamsters, mice, rats, bunnies....

Look at spending your max on all of them....add monthly costs as well.

hamsters can cost from $5 to $20 plus the cost of the cage and food
