are dell laptops/notebooks any good?

Yo are correct about Toshiba. They used to be one of the best but today, they are garbage. We program on Acers & Compaq because of their reliability which is what we always look for.

The Acer Aspire comes fully loaded, very inexpensive, very fast and sturdy. The best part is that it is almost crash-proof and , if it does crash, it recovers automatically because their are NO HARDWARE ISSUES WITH ACER OR COMPAQ.

Dell and HP are good but they always have electrical issues and when they do break, you are married to the company and always have to refer to them for a fix.

With Acer, not so and with Compaq even less. Compaq has the recovery disk built on a D partition. We tested and crashed the Compaq on purpose.

We rebooted and it didn't work. Perfect. We rebooted again and when we hit the F12 key as suggested, Bingo, the partition was recovered with nothing loss.

As for the Acer, I have it running for 1 year so far, never shut it off and it never crashed. So the rest is up to you.

Dell is a good brand. One of the largest in the world. You should have many software and hardware options, but I recommend reformatting once you get your computer, so all the dell crap software is removed and you just have your Operating System.

I have a Inspiron 1721 which came with vista, and I have (upgraded) it to XP. :-)

Dells are particularly good computers, on your acquaintances, they could desire to be doing some thing incorrect. the only time my Dell crashed replaced into while i replaced into messing around with it and domicile windows 7 + partition. XD.

Dells worked okay when i used one but don't suggest it because they are too pricey compared to the better specs that could be found on a different brand. hp is good because the features are good and its pretty reliable

Dell makes a good computer

I have used two Dell laptops for years. BUT, their biggest problem in in the electrical connection plug from the AC adapter. It is not made well and will break fairly often. You have to buy a complete replacement charger when it does. I have had to replace at least 4 of them at about $100.00 each. Because of that, I won't buy dell again.

Dell is stronge machine. Its good and better than others
