Hm....I'm not sure if it would be suitable for an 8th grader. But Non-Newtonian fluids are fun as hell! That is to say, cornstarch and water. 1 part cornstarch, 2 parts water.... It has some really interesting properties. You could make some of this, experiment with it for a bit, record results, explain what happens when the components are mixed and why they react the way the do and all that jazz. If you wanna get some ideas of what to do with it, just search for cornstarch and water on youtube.
Er...I think I may have gotten the recipe backward. It might be 2 parts cornstarch 1 part water. It's been a while since I've made some....

Hmm Well...
You could show how magnets can suspends a object in the air (i never tried this)
You could get 2 magnets, put one in the air and 1 on a table
make sure there directly above each other
put a magnetic object between them.
the object will be pulled by both magnets making it be pulled by
both so the object suspend in air between the 2 magnets.. :)

earthquakes, recycling and pollution, the weather(this girl in a science class cut out her board in a umbrella) your really limited to what you can do you can try doing experiments like chemistry but i doubt you'll be able to do that
