Flashing computer screen?

Everytime I get online my computer screen starts flashing almost like a strobe light. It won't load MySpace pages that have animated graphics on them. And just the simple task of checking my e-mail is nauseating due to the flashing. I tried un-installing all of my Adobe stuff to see if that was the problem and nothing seems to help. I can read the words on the screen and it doesn't go black just keeps flashing. Please help. Also everytime you try to scroll on a page it flashes like crazy.

Update:

I have windows xp. Haven't installed anything new. And the flahing occurs on yahoo and internet explorer. I have tried adjusting the refresh rate to no avail. And I am clueless as to what to do at this point.

This means that once your computer is offline, the computer screen behaves as normal.

Does this start happening every time you open a browser, even if the computer is not online?

What operating system are you using, i.e. which version of Windows?

Which browser are you using? Internet Explorer?

Did you install something lately, like a new graphics driver, some video streaming software, a video player, anything?

Its not a virus... !!! I am not sure what is causing it to flash but its either cos ur monitor has got spoilt or the refresh rate of the monitor has been increased ... To check this .. u can go to display settings in your control panal, then head over to the advance options -> Monitor tab .... check if the refresh rate is 60 Hertz itself ... !!! And if that does not work, check if all ur wires are properly intact
