Saddle help! What size saddle should I buy?

I ride English, and need to get a new saddle (my older one seems too big for me). I've been looking for a synthetic close contact saddle. I'm 5' 2", and weigh 110 lbs. Should I get a 15 inch?

A good thing to do would be to take different saddles out on trial if you can. Some tack shops will allow this for a day or two. You need to make sure the saddle doesn't only fit you, but make sure it fits your horse. An ill-fitting saddle on a horse can cause a number of problems. It's best to take a saddle out on trail so you can decide if it fits both you and your horse, and decide if you like the feel of it when riding. I went through a lot of saddles on trail when I was trying to buy my first, and if I bought the first one I tried out, I would've been stuck with a terrible saddle.

I'm 5'1, weigh 109... very close to you, though it depends how long your legs are. My close contact saddle is a 17" and my dressage saddle is a 16.5". I love my 17" and I fit well in most other 17" saddles. My 16.5" feels a little too small for me, but it's not too bad - I can still ride fine in it. A 15" would most likely be too small... I rode in a friends 15" saddle on her pony, and I could hardly sit in it.

Before you test or buy a saddle, measure from your hip to your knee. Good luck! :)

I'm 5'6" and am most comfortable in a 16 1/2". Don't listen to the others, when I ride in a 17" or 17 1/2" I feel like it's swallowing me up. What is the size of your other saddle? My guess is it's a 17". A 16" would probably be a best fit for you, but if you find a 16 1/2" that you're comfortable in you should go for it, especially if you're still growing. I also don't suggest getting a synthetic saddle, as they're not as high-quality as leather. Go to a tack shop. A good one will have plenty of qualified people to help you find a great saddle that will fit your budget. The most important thing is not to settle. If you're at all hesitant, DON'T BUY IT. Sleep on it and go back to sit it again. Take it home for a week or two, try it on your horse (or make sure it'll fit most horses), and ride in it. Shop, shop, shop until you find a saddle you think is perfect for you!

You need to measure yourself from you knee to your hip. That will give YOU your seat size. Then you need to see what size tree your horse will wear. Medium-Wide for TB, QH types, Wide-Extra Wide for QH, Arabian types.

I would for your money go with a leather saddle. They hold their value better than synthetics. If you can't afford a new leather saddle, then look on ebay.

Your a bit shorter than me and weigh a bit more, so I say a 16.5". I use that size as well, and it fits me perfectly fine. You might even be okay in a 16" or 17".

if you get a 15 inch, it will be much too small and will pinch your crotch and your butt will pass the cantle. If I were you, i would go for a 17 or a 17 1/2. i am 5'3" and also 110lbs. but you cant be sure unless you go to tthe tack shop and try it yourself.

you want to have 4 inches (4 fingers) behind you thats how you tell the seat size at least. Your legs shouldnt come over the flaps when your feet are in your stirrups too

a 15 inch will be way to small, I would look at a 17, possiably a 16.5 but that might be pushing it.
