Why do girls use their period as an excuse to diss their men and pick up fights?

Some might use their periods as an excuse to be complete psycho-bitches..Sorry, girls I don't mean to offend, but you all need to get over yourselves. It isn't that big of a deal, is it?

Update:

I know it is called PMS. I agree with you, girls that you go through unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, but my point is you dont have to make excuses for starting an argument, and being disrespectful. In short, no ifs and or "pms"

You've obviously never had cramps so let me illustrate it for you: imagine if someone twisted your balls and was holding it there for a couple of hours. You'd get pretty crabby too. Honestly... older men will tell you, when your girl, wife, whatever, has her period... just give her some chocolate and leave the house.

Realize that when women go through menstruation it is as if their body is going through the hormone changes that they would during a pregnancy (i.e. high estrogen levels combine with high progesterone levels) these two hormones combine cause low dopamine (pleasure/well-being hormones) in the brain. To add to that it causes painful physical symptoms such as swollen glands in the breasts. Given that those symptoms aren't enough to leave a person "on-edge" to clear the uterus of the build up created earlier in the month they experience cramps that are much like mild-to-moderate child birth pains. Given the combination of pain, low dopamine levels in the brain, and the fact that it sounds as if you are in your teens and the girls you deal with are too, it is likely that they haven't quite learned to deal with the combination of all of the symptoms associated with menstruation.

If at any point in time you add to the stress of the moment with a less than sympathetic comment you are essentially asking for a verbal altercation.

Use it as a great way to get out of town for three days! Wait until you're married, then that period seems to last weeks at a time!

when we are going through that time of month, our innards are screwing with us BIG time- hormones going out of control, nausea, painful cramps.
