Why wouldnt the washington nationals be better than 59-102 in 2009?

they cant be worst can they?

    Well considering the two best teams in their division (the Phillies and Mets) both got better this offseason, it's very possible that the Nationals will have a worse record this season. Also, the Marlins rotation is very strong and scouts are waiting for that team to shine. The Nationals didn't do anything to considerably improve themselves this offseason, so I can't see them doing much better, if any better at all.

    they couldnt get texeira in free agency, so the only thing i can see that would really bump up their win total would be the signing of knuckle head AKA manny. but they still wouldnt be contenders. wait a few years.

    Their injuries plagued them. You think they'll be better because of the off-season buzz, which they said wont pursue anymore big time names. If most of them stay healthy, 5-10 more wins.

    They're still 3-4 years away from contention. They're best is in the lower minors and still growing.
