What is a good animation program that is FREE?

I want to learn to make animated GIF if that's what they are called. I would like it to be free, easy to use, and no viruses.

Unfortunately, there are no great free animation programs unless you want to do it all frame by frame, which will take forever.

I recommend getting the 30 day free trial of Adobe Flash,  its simple to use, and if you really get into it then look into buying it.
