If you want pesos, you will get a better rate exchanging in Mexico.
You can get pesos out of the Cajeros Automáticos (ATMs) or buy exchanging dollars or traveler checks at banks or casas de cambio (exchange offices).
By the way. Pesos also use the $ symbol. So be sure which is being used when you see prices listed.

take dollars, they are used everywhere. Also one dollar bills are good for tipping, you don`t need to tip every time, once you tip the staff will really look after you well. Remember a dollar is a lot of money to them! Have a fantastic holiday.........oh the white sand and the turquoise blue sea, fantastic!! Enjoy!

PS remember you need some money to leave the country, usually it`s about $10.

Yes - take US$ in small demoninations for tipping etc.
The exit visa is $50 USD and is payable in cash only (Pesos or dollars). You pay this when you check-in for your return flight.
