Have you ever been wrongly accused?

I mean you have done absolutely nothing wrong but have been accused anyway. Do explain.

I am an old man of 44, and during th years I was volunteering at the Y, mentoring. I was accused twice, of misconduct. One by a mother who was abusive, and I reported her, and the other was by a neighbor. Although I was not charged, and I do not know why she did it she was arrested. I did not notice too much difference, I changed a little. I have been careful on the first incidence, not to hug a child very much, because I have seen good people hurt, and always in public. After the last one, even though my accuser was arrested, I backed away a little. And adjusted my interaction with the children. I would talk privately with a child, but just out of ear shot of others, never alone.

Once I was at a gas station just after they had a drive-off. The police hadn't even gotten there yet. One of the cashiers was on the phone giving a description of the car. I made my purchase and went on my way. I didn't even get 5 miles down the road when, out of nowhere, came at least 3 police cars with lights and sirens going. I pulled over and they blocked me in. They had guns drawn, spotlights shining, and were barking orders at me. As a single female, alone in my car, in the middle of the night, I was scared to death! Then I found out that they thought I was the one who didn't pay for the gas. Wow, what a relief! I told them that yes, I had been there, but I paid for my purchase. Then I told them that one of the cashiers knew who the culprit was and I gave them a description of the car that they should be looking for. They got on the radio and were able to confirm what I had told them. They apologized and let me go. Boy, did I need that bottle of booze that was hidden under the seat! But I waited until I got home.

Yes when I was about 8 my Dad accused me of eating my sisters sweets, I'd cycled 2 miles to the shop and back to get us sweets but when I got home I must have dropped hers. He didn't believe me and made me cycle back to get some more, I was so embarrassed I cycled to a different shop further away.

Always remember the injustice of it, even all these years later.

Yes. Because I am the middle child.

Big brother is too old to get blamed. Little brother is the innocent baby.

Granted, it IS usually me that did whatever it is I'm being accused of. But I still feel upset about those few times when I was actually innocent.

Yesh... An ex-boyfriend thought I was cheating on him with a mutual friend...

I thought it was so funny due to the unlikeliness of it that I simply laughed...

There's not much else you can do when somebody has their mind made up...
