Generally speaking igneous rocks are used either for dimension stone for building ( less common nowadays due to cost) crushed as aggregate for building material, railway ballast or roadmaking. Igneous rocks of many types can be cut and polished for ornamental facings for buildings as well.

Apart from slate, used as roofing materials, metamorphic rocks are not used much in building (occasionally they might get used as an aggregate) Marble gets used for high value building work and also for statues and occasionally other metamorphic rocks are used as ornamental stones for facing buildings.

Sedimentary rocks are still used as dimension stone in high value buildings (Portland stone, a jurassic limestone is a good example) ans some limestone is used as aggregate for roadstone as it can give good anti-slip properties even if it is not as durable as granite.

Limestone is used to produce cement, where it is calcined (roasted) and mixed with clay (which is another sedimentary rock) Limestone is also used in the chemical industry, to produce fertiliser, and powdered limestone is the ingredient of many toothpastes.

Clay is used to make both pottery, and also bricks

Rock salt is used as both a chemical feedstock, and also mined to spread on roads in the winter

sedimentary: limestone can be used for foundations of roads

Igneous: basalt and granite can be used for roads as well

Metamorphic: marble can be used as a decoration for fireplaces etc
