What size lumber do I need for a 15 foot pergola header?
I have a patio space I want to cover with a shade strcture. It is about 15 feet across and I want to have posts only at the corners. Do I need a 2X8 to keep it from sagging?

We have a pergola over our back patio and it was professionally built for us. Just a minute.....my husband is going out in the snow to measure for you. Hang on.....
Ok....we have four 20 ft. 2x10's and no sagging. And we have one post at each corner. We love ours!! Our patio is 20x14 which our pergola is over.

why take a chance with a 2X6. I like overkill and Id use a 2X8 or a 2X10. You only get to do the job once, so do it right.
