Christians have you heard of the Didache?

Didache ,= teaching, an early Christian work written in Greek, called also The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles. Dates for its composition suggested by scholars have ranged from AD 50 to AD 150. Discovered in 1875 by Bryennios, Greek Orthodox metropolitan of Nicomedia, it is an invaluable primary source for the primitive church. The first part is a collection of moral precepts, perhaps based on rabbinical teachings (there are many quotations from the Old Testament); the second portion gives directions for baptism and the Eucharist; the third contains directions for bishops and deacons.

you can read it here.

Update:

Why? because it proves the Eucharist is what Catholics believe it to be as handed down by tradition, might seem not very important to some but I think it is.

God forgive me but I did laugh at the first two answers.

    Yes, it is a short treatise which was accounted by some of the Fathers as next to Holy Scripture.

    It deals with how Jewish-Christians saw themselves and how they adapted their Judaism for gentiles than any other book in the Christian Scriptures

    The contents is divided into three parts: the first is the "Two Ways", the Way of Life and the Way of Death; the second part is a rituale dealing with baptism, fasting, and Holy Communion; the third speaks of the ministry. Doctrinal teaching is presupposed, and none is imparted.

    The 1st part is the Way of Life is the love of God and of our neighbour.

    The 2nd part begins with an instruction on baptism, which is to be conferred "in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" in living water, if it can be had — if not, in cold or even hot water. The baptized and, if possible, the baptizer, and other persons must fast for one or two days previously. If the water is insufficient for immersion, it may be poured thrice on the head.

    The Third Part speaks first of teachers or doctors (didaskaloi) in general. These are to be received if they teach the above doctrine; and if they add the justice and knowledge of the Lord they are to be received as the Lord.

    Interesting. It may have been partially used by Matthew when he wrote his Gospel. Per the wikipedia article, "The Roman Catholic Church has accepted it as part of the collection of Apostolic Fathers."

    There are numerous texts that existed for this time period, many of which have now disappeared into oblivion (or the libraries of the Roman and Orthodox Catholic Churches). Discoveries like this don't do much for most people and where they deal with certain extinct practices, they support the concept/idea/theory that the "church" went into apostasy following the Apostles' deaths.

    Still, an interesting find.

    yes it is not a inspired work of god but is made up by the catholic church.

    The apostles never practiced the Eucharist. The bible makes that clear.

    The lords supper was done as a meal not as stated in this document.

    This is a false teaching and a false letter.

    That is why it was left out of the bible.

    I've read it; I even have it in the original Greek. It, along with Barnabas, I Clement, and the Shepherd of Hermas, were almost included in the New Testament.

    The Epistle of Barnabas is similar in many ways. You may enjoy reading that one, too.

    Heard of it, yes. Never read it though. I see it part of the Apocrypha, so it might be worth reading for interest. As long as it is not part of the Gnostic texts!

    Where in this does it say that the bread and wine literally turn to the body and blood of Christ as the Catholic Church claims?

    Instruction regarding the Eucharist.

    9:1 But as touching the Eucharistic thanksgiving give you thanks thus.

    9:2 First, as regards the cup:

    9:3 We give You thanks, O our Father, for the holy vine of Your son David, which You made known to us through Your Son Jesus;

    9:4 Yours is the glory for ever and ever.

    9:5 Then as regards the broken bread:

    9:6 We give You thanks, O our Father, for the life and knowledge which You did make known to us through Your Son Jesus;

    9:7 The glory is Yours for ever and ever.

    9:8 As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains and being gathered together became one, so may Your Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Your kingdom;

    9:9 For Yours is the glory and the power through Jesus Christ for ever and ever.

    9:10 But let no one eat or drink of this Eucharistic thanksgiving, except those who have been baptized into the name of the Lord;

    9:11 For concerning this also the Lord has said:

    9:12 Give not that which is holy to the dogs.

    10:1 And after you are satisfied thus give you thanks:

    10:2 We give You thanks, Holy Father, for Your holy name, which You have made to tabernacle in our hearts, and for the knowledge and faith and immortality, which You have made known unto us through Your Son Jesus;

    10:3 Yours is the glory for ever and ever.

    10:4 You, Almighty Master, did create all things for Your name's sake, and did give food and drink unto men for enjoyment, that they might render thanks to You;

    10:5 But did bestow upon us spiritual food and drink and eternal life through Your Son.

    10:6 Before all things we give You thanks that You are powerful;

    10:7 Yours is the glory for ever and ever.

    10:8 Remember, Lord, Your Church to deliver it from all evil and to perfect it in Your love;

    10:9 And gather it together from the four winds -- even the Church which has been sanctified -- into Your kingdom which You have prepared for it;

    10:10 For Yours is the power and the glory for ever and ever.

    10:11 May grace come and may this world pass away.

    10:12 Hosanna to the God of David.

    10:13 If any man is holy, let him come;

    10:14 If any man is not, let him repent. Maranatha. Amen.

    14:1 And on the Lord's own day gather yourselves together and break bread and give thanks, first confessing your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure.

    14:2 And let no man who has a dispute with his fellow, join your assembly until they have been reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be defiled;

    14:3 For this is the same sacrifice spoken of by the Lord;

    14:4 In every place and at every time offer Me a pure sacrifice;

    14:5 For I am a great king, says the Lord, and My name is wonderful among the nations.

    and regarding THE CHURCH - THE CHURCH is ALL those who are saved and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. JESUS is the head of the Chruch. The church is NOT a one specific denomination, nor is a building. Stop trying to bring glory to one people, Christ died for ALL. God does not consider denominations, nor can ANY claim exclusive rights to being THE CHRUCH. We ALL come from the first Christians who were JEWS who followed Christ - the disciples.

    Acts 1 :15-26 - Was the replacement of JUDAS to fullfill scripture as prophecized by David. It applied to filling JUDAS' spot. It was not an order of succession.

    EDIT - To symbolically eat ones flesh meant to do harm - think about what you are saying here

    To symbolically eat JESUS' flesh meant to do harm - why would you mean to do harm? To eat the flesh of another was to cause harm to who you eat.........................

    and as to Jesus being the sacraficial lamb, yes he is - however you miss that we are not of this world and our spirit wrestles with the flesh - to be FED is to be spiritually fed, as the flesh is of this world. Those that eat the bread that is Jesus are being fed in the faith. God sent manna from heaven - but the people lusted after flesh - they demanded meat to eat. Therefore - he fed them meat to the point that they became sick having been smote with a plaque by God.

    Thou shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God - Luke 4:4
