It's definitely nice to wear pantyhose, but you have take care with them. Make sure you have no ragged edges on your finger and toe nails, or hard sharp pieces of skin sticking out on hands and feet. You should be careful not to bump into things with sharp edges. I don't know which brands you buy, but it's always better to spend a bit more money and get good quality. When you're careful with them they last much longer than the cheap stuff.
I've also heard that when you take them out of the package and make them moist and then freeze them, they will last longer and not run so easily. Don't know if it works, but it's worth a try.

Not sure what brand you are buying but I have a lot of luck with L'eggs Sheer Energy...they seem to last more than just a couple of wearings and are not terribly expensive either ($5/pair).

Not sure on that one but if your ok with a bit more compression on your legs try a pair with 20% or more lycra such as Hanes Alive or Leggs Sheer Snergy, the more lycra content makes them a bit more durable.

How are they ripping? Are you bumping into things? Are you putting holes in them with your nails?
Cut your nails and file them smooth, and watch where you go and try not to bump into things. I too have problems with bumping into things and have to watch my legs all the time. I also wear Legg's Sheer Energy hose and they are very durable for everyday wear.

hairspray. the aerosol kind. put pantyhose on, then spray them. its never failed for me. i can keep a pair for about 3 months this way.

you can try the hair spray like someone already mentioned.
don't buy the cheap ones! buy a better quality hose a size bigger than you have been buying, and they should last you longer!
