Solpadeine is basically soluble co-codamol and as such there are good arguments for avoiding it completely.
Its only about 5% more effective that paracetamol, but has many more side effects.
The main one is severe constipation, it is also very addictive, the soluble form more so as it gives a rapid buzz, much enjoyed by addicts. In addition it can cause headache and abdominal pain.
Nurofen, ibuprofen, is an excellent pain killer, BUT it can cause GI upset and even bleeding ulcers and is best always taken with food.
