94 nissan sentra having problems running?

my 1994 1.6l sentra is haveing some odd issues.

1) hard to get it started

2) once it is started it turns off between shifting gears or when i come to a stop light unless i keep my foot on the gas

3) the car shakes a lot now

4) cant get it above 50 mph

things i have done:

replaced the battary, checked the alternator, replaced the spark plugs.

things my mechanic has done:

checked the fuel pump and he said it was fine

help is appreciated - thanks

Update:

i dont know what a kia is.

its not the starter, i had that tested as well just forgot to mention it. the mechanic said that the engine appears to be in good working order as well.

i was thinking maybe it was the TPS or chassis grounds.

Update 2:

thanks for the replies.

the check engine light is not on.

the car only has 172,000 miles on it.

I took it to the dealership on sat. they told that all 4 fuel injectors are clogged. they want $1850 to replace them. Does that make any sense at all. Fuel injectors only take an hour or so to replace and you can get them for as low as $30 a piece.

Is the check engine light on? If it is then its one of the sensors. The reason it won't go above 50 is because the engine comp. has detected a problem, and has put the car into "limp" mode. It reduces the power, and will stay that way till you have a mechanic hook up his reader, and it will tell him what sensor is at fault. Replace it, and away you go.

At 34 stages ice will melt really slowly, somewhat in the colour less than the vehicle the position the gas line ought to have a frozen plug of water in a dip in the line. bear in mind how lengthy it continues to be the position it is piled next to the line or in parking a lot? It appears like it is melted slightly bit, adequate to enable slightly gas by, yet no longer adequate to shop it operating. it is going to freeze again this nighttime in case you don't get it into the nice and comfortable temperature storage... acceptable regards, Mike

How many miles is on your Nissan? I have a 1994 Nissan Altima with almost 300,000 miles on it. Last week it died while going down the street. My problem was the oxygen sensor.

It sounds like the starter, or the fact that you own a Kia. I'd also definitely get the engine checked.
