How can I find a paid internship?

My husband is graduating with a degree in Business Management and an emphasis in Finance in December 2009. He needs a summer internship, however he is having a hard time finding one. He needs a paid internship- as we have a 19 month old daughter, and we are expecting baby number two at the end of the summer. Finances are tight and we have bills to pay. Also, most internships require a 3.0 GPA, but because of going to school and working and being a dad, he only has a 2.5. Do you know of any good resources where he can find a business or finance internship? (Anything is great, but a location in Phoenix, AZ or Idaho Falls, ID would be preferable) We're really stressing out about the future and finances. THANK YOU for any help!!!

You're just going to have to look at websites and see what's there. If he got good grades in any classes, maybe he should ask those professors for suggestions or references. You should also check with the career center. Don't forget about government agencies. There might be state or federal agencies that have websites.

If I were your husband, I would be taking as much accounting classes as possible. There are a lot more opportunities for accounting majors. Try to get through intermediate accounting and have enough credits to do the CPA. You could see if any mid tier accounting firms have internships but that might be iffy.

  • did your hubby check with his school's career center, they should be able to find him one, or at least guide him in the right direction.
