Tips/Advice for a beginning actor?

I just start a Acting 2 class, but I know I am not a good actor. I don't know if I am suited for comedy acting or drama. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips to improve myself (stage fright, technique, videos, books). I don't expect miracles or to be the next Marlon Brando in a matter of weeks or months but I do want to be a little confident when performing in front of the class.

trust me i know that nothing can prepare you for performing, it is going to be one of those moment you will never forget...but always remember, there is not such thing as a perfect actor. the only tip i can really give you is to try your best, i mean, it will probably come natural. What i can tell you that will help with your stage fright is to get a monologue and learn it. then, perform it for your parents. notice their facial expressions and you will be able to tell if they liked it or not. Also, while onstage, never ever look directly at the audience. try to look top the wall across from you instead of facing the audience directly. If you notice a person do some kind of movement, it WILL distract you!
