I think you should contact the IRS, they keep that information on record and can send it to you to file your returns. Also, getting the info from the IRS helps with not having any under reported income issues, just in case you had income that was not reported in w2s.

If there are no copies with your tax returns for that year then yes you can call the companies you worked for.
Each company will be different in who you ask for. For example you may need to talk to Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting or another department. Call the company and ask the person who answers the phone who you will need to talk to for a W-2 Reissue or copy.
If that gets you no where, then call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and ask for a transcript for 2006 & 2007. It will not be an actual copy of your W-2s, but it will have most of the information you might need.

You did not lose them they are attached to your copy of those Tax Returns you filed away.
