Why does my airbag warning light keep coming on every few minutes.....?
For the past few weeks, every time i get into my car the airbag warning light flashes. It proceeds to flash every few minutes or so.
I went to a local garage and they refused to look at it as it's an AudiTT Quattro and they say it has to be taken to an Audi dealer.
As it's two years old it's just passed the warranty date so i expect i'll be looking at a huge bill when a dealer gets involved.
To soften the blow a little, does anyone know what the likely cause could be? Someone suggested because i'm quite tall, it could be that my seat is too far back!!! (???)

This is a common fault and yes it probably has to do with the seat as the connections for the seat belt pre-tensioners are under it and they do play up with the seat constantly going back and forth.
You may be able to see all the plugs under the seat and unplug them and re-seat them as this can in a lot of cases cure the problem.
Only takes about 10 min's and could save you a few quid so well worth the effort.
Good luck.
PS don't forget the passenger side too.

You need to get it fixed quickly. The light is telling you there is a fault on the firing circuit. If you don't get it fixed you might find your head through the windscreen in an accident and then it will not seem as expensive. Alternative it might go off when it is not needed. That would certainly be interesting! You won't get it through an MOT at the end of the third year like that.
The airbag is an explosive device and you can understand a garage that does not hold the dealership being unwilling to help. You really do need to get the agent to sort it out and quickly -- it's all part of the cost of running a car these days.

It would have to be diagnosed to know for sure but it could be anything from a bad SRS ( supplemental restraint system ) control unit, faulty crash sensor, bad air bag squib, or even a bad belt buckle ( doesn't recognize when you locked the seat belt into the buckle.
By the way, it has nothing to do with the position of the seat ( assuming it's left in the rear position at all times. If more than one person drives this car and the seat is constantly adjusted fore-and-aft, yes, it may be a loose or chaffed wire ).

it will need to be plugged into a diagnostic machine at a dealer - they may be able to reset the fault codes or if there is a fault i.e a sensor or switch needing replaced, they will give you an estimate for the job.
I would advise searching for an independent audi specialist, as they have the knowledge, equipment and are alot cheaper than the dealers.
ps the seat position has nothing to do with the airbag light

I, too, would suggest as a first step you check the connections under the seat - they do sometimes become loose or disconnected. There are connections down there which send a signal to the car if the seat is occupied and problems with them can cause spurious seatbelt or airbag warnings.

If your that tall do you have to keep adjusting the seat?? - if so the wiring harness for the seat could be damaged - the air bag light also covers other safety systems such as seatbelt pre-tensioners in the buckle and b pillar

I don't know about Audi's but my Aerostar ABS (rear) light came on and won't go out. Wonder what that means.
Just take the little light out.

i usually knock the wiring under the seat when cleaning car, just check those connections

It could be as little as a faulty sensor..
Get it checked to be on the safe side of things..
