Make sure the ship docks at all ports of call. Tenders from off shore can be a real hassle.

    There is a distinct advantage to going on a smaller ship. They can get into port and in half a hour you have walked off and are ashore. It is also more interesting being right into the port, especially when you 'sail away' and the other ships hoot and your ship hoots back etc. Real party atmosphere. Small is beautiful (our ship was 1,400 passengers).

    Sometimes you don't have a choice. If the ships are to big to dock.

    The tenders aren't so bad even for this old lady.
