Was FDR an alcoholic?

And if so, where could I find more information/sources about it?

    I like Skyler May's answer.

It depends on your definition of "alcoholic."

Indications from historical sources I have read are that he drank alcohol every day.

Did he have life damaging consequences? Maybe not.

I know of no account indicating that he ever tried to stop drinking alcohol and failed.

My dad drank beer every day for the 50 plus years that I knew him, but he never missed a day of work, was never arrested for anything, never received any kind of driving ticket, and I never saw him drunk or incapacitated by alcohol.

My grandparents - all four of them - also drank alcohol every day throughout the FDR years 1933 to 1945. None of them ever missed work, received a driving ticket, or tried to quit.

    Definitions of alcoholism vary.

booze for breakfast, booze for lunch and boozed at night, Eleanor had a problem with his drinking. Alcoholic depends n what you consider is a alcoholic but for me drinking hard booze every day makes him look like a alcoholic. Of course FDR would be the first one to deny that.

I can't find any evidence that FDR was an alcoholic. He did, however fight for repeal of Prohibition.

He is photographed as usually being a nicotine narcotic addict, which usually means alcohol use as well.
