Thinking of getting an 05 Chevy Equinox? Any feedback?
I had a 97 S-10 Blazer and LOVED it. This seems similar. Being the first year of production, what kinds of problems are they having. How's reliability, etc, etc.

Overall, the '05 Equinox is an extremely reliable vehicle. There aren't typically any problems with these vehicles, GM put a lot of time into the Equinox before the release. So far, there have been 3 recalls on the Equinox (which isn't bad at all- they only cover a small fraction of the vehicles made). One is for the liftgate strut attachment bracket, in some cases it deforms and scratches the body of the vehicle. Another is for the Powertrain/ Engine Control Module (PCM/ECM), this result in some Malfunction Indicator Lamp and driveablilty complaints. The other is for the park lock, in some cases the vehicle can be shifted out of park when the key is not in the transmission. Besides these recalls, which like I said on affected a small number of vehicles, the Equinox is an awesome choice. Very innovative design including the "Multi-flex" rear seat that I have found very convenient and the adjustable height cargo rack. As far as driving experience, the 3.4L V6 offers power when you need it. The fully electronic power steering is an adjustment if you have not had it before, but gives a definite improvment in maneverability of the vehicle. Also the on-demand AWD gives comfort for any driving condition. Awesome vehicle, I'd say go for it!

The reliability of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox is rather typical General Motors. GM's Chevrolet Equinox has Consumer Reports' Much-Worse-Than-Average or Worse-Than-Average reliability ratings in the following categories:
Drive System
Fuel System
Electrical System
Suspension
Brakes
Paint/Trim
Body Integrity.
Also, based on CR's Reliability Verdicts for the past 5 years, AutoOnInfo.net lists the Equinox among the Worst of 2009, with a Composite Reliability Value of -.25 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00. For reference, Chevrolet's overall Composite Reliability Average is -.26, Hyundai's is +.23, Honda's is +.79, and Toyota's is +.82.

The Equinox is good in most ways.
The bad things are:
Turning radius. Hard to park.
Interior quality.-Interior easily gets scratches
