Is it difficult to find work in the Texas, Forth Worth area?

My boyfriend and I currently live in Chicago. We both hate our jobs and our looking for a change. We both have family in the Dallas area and heard that Forth Worth was a good place to live we are also considering Arlington as well. We would like to relocate by May but I am unsure if i will be able to find work. Chicago has been impossible for employment. My bf works in the industrial field and I have a bachelors degree with much of my experience being in the realm of education, admission adviser, project management positions. Thanks for the help.

guess what! I moved from dallas to the chicago area 3 years ago to be my parents and you are right.. the job market is AWFUL here. I am moving back and have done alot of research and the southwest esp arizona seem to be ideal for my work experience. I was raised in fort worth and it has become much more cosmopolitan than when i lived there. You will be much more likely to find a job there and will be shocked at the affordability of housing plus the much warmer weather... do look at craigslist of dallas and type fort worth in your search as far as jobs go and renting houses etc. Arlington is not as great.. I think you would be happier in fort worth or dallas...

    things to do:

the modern art museum of fort worth is a must see

joe t garcias for mexican food on fort worths north side is a must

the botanical gardens of fort worth are gorgeous

    the fort worth zoo

the nasher sculpture center in dallas is wonderful!

    the dallas museum of art

the state fair ground s of dallas have cool art deco architecture

    shopping at northpark in dallas

the trinity river in fort worth offers bicycle trails

white rock lake in dallas has trails

and if you plan a weekend outing you should check out austin texas which is a blast!

You are smart to leave chicago for many reasons so welcome to the southwest!

I guess it would depend on what kind of job you're looking for. I got laid off 2 1/2 years ago. I found a job in about 8 weeks. I'm not happy with it, so I've been looking for another the whole 2 1/2 years and can't find one that pays enough. You can look for jobs on dallasnews.com (the newspaper) or on Monster.com

The recession hasn't hit DFW as much as the rest of the country. Many Fortune 500 companies are moving their headquarters here, and construction is booming. Actually, you should try the Plano area (north of Dallas), since a great many corporations are headquartered there (and NORTH of Dallas is relatively crime-free and a wonderful place to raise a family)
