What does MN and RW mean in relation to a fender stratocaster?

I thought MN meant maple neck an RW was rosewood but app not

    Yeah you a right, they refer to the neck, unless you are talking about the preface to the serial numbers on guitars in which case they refer to the year of manufacture.

    In what context did you see MN and RW used?

  • MN in the serial number refers to where it was built, & what decade it was made.

    M = mexico

    N = 90's

    Z = 2000's

    The number following the MN is the exact year. ie. MN3.... means it was built in Mexico in 1993.

    It must refer to fretboard, except in the case of serial numbers. Many of the Squire Affinity series carry a MN designation in the name, and an affinity series is never made in Mexico. We re lucky if they are even made in China and not Indonesia or some other far away land....

    not sure but it think they may have something to do with the year in which they were built or other such properties of the guitar like if it has a tremelo fitted or 21 or 22 frets, i looked this up a while ago but i cant rem exactly what all the notations mean on the head of the neck, shouldnt be to hard to find on the net, hope this helps
