Eliminating Tape Hiss And Rumble?

I have a number of interviews I recorded 25 years ago onto cassette tape that I've downloaded to wav files. The tape hiss and rumble are very prominent and I was hoping I could find something in Easy Media Creator 10 that would allow me to eliminate it. Is there a way I can capture a few seconds off the tape where the only sound is the hiss and rumble and have the software recognize it throughout the whole file and eliminate it? I've tried to use the sound editor, but when I get rid of the hiss and rumble, it also degrades the quality of the voices. If Easy Media Creator doesn't have it, does Creator 2009 have this feature? Is there another software that will do what I want?

Update:

The problem with using an equalizer is that when I cut out the hiss and rumble, I also lose of the voice. That's why I'd like to find software smart enough to recognize the hiss and rumble and eliminate it.

You need something a little more sophisticated mate. There is a very good open source (free) sound editor available here, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ I have cleaned up all my audio tapes and LPs which are now in MP3 format on the computer. It does need a bit of practise but the results are great when you get used to it. Good luck

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/vSOzq

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

    Ooops has your answer.

As long as there are a few seconds of just the noise you want to remove it can be selected and the program selectively removes it.

A bit of trial and error might be needed to get the best result.

try using windows media player and set the equalizer to voice that should improve it then move the file to which ever player you use and see if you can use it to clean it up any more if needed
