Renault Megane footwell sensor points?

I have a 2005 Renault Megane 1.6, this evening for some reason the footwell lights didn't go off when all the doors were shut, or even when the engine was turned off and the doors locked. I have had to resort to removing the bulbs for the night or I wont have a battery in the morning. I think maybe one of the sensors is dirty but I don't know where they are situated. Please could anyone help.

Check that both the footwell storage compartments are properly shut.

There are switches in the catches of these that turn on the footwell lights so that you can see into the storage compartments.

Dirt around the edge of the compartments can prevent them from closing properly.

Clean around the edge of the compartments, then stamp on the lids to make sure they are properly shut.
