Ilford Multigrade Filters?
I'm using Ilford Multigrade IV enlarging paper, which is by default grade 2, but I was wanting the ability to print at higher grades. I know Ilford makes multicontrast filters, but they are a little expensive for me. Can I just use screw mount black and white filters to similar effect? Like a k2 filter or an orange filter? Thanks.

You could try it, but I would try with the red filter. The higher contrast filters lean more to the magenta. The orange leans more to the lower contrast end of the filter ranges.
Keep an eye out on ebay for the filters. I am sure there are enough people leaving the darkroom for digital, that you should be able to find a set for a good price.

No - that won't work.
Filters work by adjusting the color of light. Camera filters (K2 and orange) increase contrast by filtering out blue light - therefore, skies (which are blue) and shadows (which are illuminated by blue light reflected from the sky) will be darkened by these filters.
Variable contrast printing filters also adjust the color of light. Variable contrast paper has two emulstions - a low contrast emulsion that is more sensitive to green light, and a high contrast emulsion that is more sensitive to magenta light. And variable contrast filters come in progressive gradations between yellow-green to magenta to bias the printing exposure in the direction of one or the other of those emulsions.

You can try but I don't think they will do the same. I use Ilford as well and managed to pick-up a set of 6x6 filters for my 4x5 enlarger. Good luck.
