What could be the cause of an eye twitch?

my left upper eye lid has been twitching for two weeks now...what could be the cause...and how can I get it to stop?

    Hello Chad,

    The cause of eye twitch (i.e. the causes for "uncontrolled contractions of the muscles around the eyelids") is excessive fatigue or stress.

    Try to get some extra sleep, stay off the computer a while to give your eyes a rest. Dim the monitor. If you are hitting the books big time in High School or college, try getting a study buddy to read part of the material to you.

    Sounds like eye strain to me.

    Eye twitch can be caused by stress, fatigue, or excessive caffeine intake.

    it is due to abnormal blinking of the eyelids caused by uncontrolled contractions of the muscles around the eyelids.
