Nissan Pathfinder transmission issues?
2001 pathfinder transmission was replaced one year ago when purchased with a used unit with 30,000 miles. Now on the 2-3 shift intermittently will red line the tach before engaging next gear hard. Have changed the fluid and filter. Noted that there was no metal chunk, flake or particle but fluid had burned smell. Also when unit was replace an external cooler was installed. Any suggestions on next step or options short of complete overhaul? Any items to try before the inevitable rebuild/replacement? I love the truck and it is in great shape otherwise but the reason we choose replacing the unit was that we had an estimate of $7000.00 for overhaul and i simply do not have that kind of money.

sounds like the shift solenoid needs replaceing. might be part of the valve body assy. have it checked out before you start losing gears altogether
