Will the DMV issue me a temp. license plate?

Earlier today I purchased a used car from a dealership. I got insurance on it, and I have registration for the vehicle. I do not have a license plate, because I am transferring it from my old car to my new one. I won't be able to transfer it until Monday or Tuesday. Will the DMV issue me a temp. license plate/sticker?

Update:

I have already paid, but I won't be able to get the license plate from my other car until Monday or Tuesday...

Update 2:

In my state we can transfer plates, and as I said above, I have done so, and paid the fee's.

    DEPENDS ON THE STATE

SOME STATES YOU CANNOT TAKE A PLATE FROM ONE CAR AND PUT IT ON ANOTHER, YOU'LL GET IN MORE TROULE FOR DOING THAT THAN DRIVING AROUND WITH NO PLATE

Source(s): YOU COULD ALWAYS CALL DMV

If you buy a car from a dealership they should issue you a temp license plate until you get your car registered. If you have already registered your car with the old license plate, sorry, you have to use that license plate. And if you don't have it available till Monday or Tuesday, tough luck.

No the transfer is INSTANT you just remove the old plates to the new car when you PAY.
