Which solution will help US to solve terrorists threats: diplomacy or force?

will using force help us to subdue terrorist group? Or we can persuade them to listen to us by using diplomacy?

Update:

if using diplomacy means giving terrorists time to recover and using force is not effective, how the combination works? We cannot just beat them near death and then give them time to recover to beat them again, can we? Neither is not an answer!

The problem is, most people look at the terrorist threat from the wrong perspective. They are at war with all free peoples, They pray to Allah as they cut off a Christian's head with small knives. If you want to use diplomacy to placate the terrorists, prepare to become Muslim and lose your freedom.

Cease fire agreements for Hamas means taking time to dig in rocket launchers behind another orphanage, hospital or school. As soon as they retrench near innocent civilians, they will be back at launching their rockets again.

Israel has agreed to a cease fire. The condition is Missiles targeting Israeli civilians, women and children stop being fired.

The Palestinians elected Hamas. The behavior of Hamas in hiding near Hospitals and schools can hardly be a surprise to them. Let those sane people in the world see how cowardly and evil Hamas is by hiding near schools and hospitals. The safest place, in Israel, to hide from terrorist missiles, is an Israeli military base. Hamas, being the cowardly, evil, genocidal, maniacs they are, only seek to target civilian areas.

I know a Orthodox Jewish Registered nurse. and I know a Muslim Registered nurse from Jordan. I asked them the same question.

To the Jewish Nurse I asked, what do you think would happen if the Palestinians laid down their arms and stopped attacking Israel? "Her response: "From your lips to God's ears! We would rejoice at the peace and thank God"

I asked the Muslim nurse: "What Do you think would happen if Israel laid down their arms?" The Muslim nurse said while smiling and looking angry, "We would drive them all into the sea."

So much for "caring for innocent children"

Nobody is gonna sit down with any terrorist leader and have a pleasant chat. Diplomacy is for reasonable people. The talking will have to be with leaders of countries that directly or indirectly contribute to Terrorism. Once a solution is reached. Then an action follows. It is highly unlike that any terrorist group is gonna lay down their weapons and walk away from their conflict.

Neither one is substantial enough to do it by itself. You need diplomacy backed up with a credible use of force.

Edit: No, diplomacy is not meant for the terrorists; it's meant to bring our allies along.

Terrorists such as al-Queda or Hamas do not deal in diplomacy. They will do anything and everything to ensure that their agendas are met. The only reasoning that they believe in is at the end of a gun, and even this most of the time does not deter them.

If you start diplomacy, bargaining, with terror groups then they have won. They won because they are now a legitimate group. Jimmy Carter legitimized Hamas when he met with them. This legitimacy was done because a former President of the U.S. actually met and talked with them.

According to the Rand commission report, commissioned by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION, the only thing in the past that has been effective is treating it as a criminal matter. From your question, it is obvious that you are unaware that there have been terrorists before now. Rand said that in only 7% of cases did military action work.

So the answer to your question is neither. However, you obviously wanted the answer WAR WAR WAR, so I doubt you will be influenced by logic.

there will always be terrorists, can't make everyone love you but the purpose is reducing this. we know force alone does nothing but aggravate the situation so you need diplomacy as well.

We should use both. We must be firm in showing our resolve. We should never violate our own laws or ideals.

The message that we are sending the world is that the United States intends to prosecute the ongoing struggle against violence and terrorism and we are going to do so vigilantly and we are going to do so effectively and we are going to do so in a manner that is consistent with our values and our ideals,"

    --President Barrack Obama Jan 21,2009

Only force will work. Terrorists will use the time wasted on diplomacy to plan and stage new attacks.

The trick is getting the right mix. Terrorists come from a population that feels they have no hope. So they choose violence as a way to try to right the wrongs they think have been done to them. Well fed people with good jobs rarely commit acts of terrorism.

Neither. Some small minds are simply not open to meaningful solutions, regardless if you cram in down their throat or offer it up on a butter roll.Stupid is as stupid does.......

Nothing new here,it's been going on for thousands of years and isn't going to end anytime soon,if ever .

Just depends on which team you're on as to the justification of it all !
