AVG is also another good free one, i run this alongside the superantispyware as mentioned above and run ad-aware from lavasoft every couple of weeks.... all are free and all available from www.download.com.

go to www.avast.com
they have a free home edition anti-virus which is on par with symantec

just as everyone else has been saying AVG is also another award winning Anti-virus.

AVG antivirus is downloadable and free and is used by millions of people.
You will also need a firewall. I use windows firewall which is good. You can also download a free version of zonealarm which is a really good firewall.

AVG is good from what I hear and read. Its also FREE.
