Why does the weather in Texas vary so much?
I have lived here for almost a year now and it seems like the weather just can not decide what season it is. It's January, and we have already had one day reaching in the low 80's and another in the upper 30's. My question is, why does Texas weather change so much and so drastically? Is it due to it being so flat? I live in Central Texas (north eastern side of it) and the weather is always changing. Is there any scientific reason for this, as in due to its locality?
Is this combination of masses (cold/hot; low/high pressure) the reason conditions are favorable in TX for tornados?

Yes, the flatness of Texas and it latitude allow for quite varying air masses to invade that area. Parts of Texas are adjacent to a large warm body of water (the Gulf of Mexico) while further north cold air masses can pass across with little hindrance. The location of the Rocky mountains helps to induce low pressure systems which can draw up the warm and moist air from the Gulf, then once they pass by the counter-clockwise flow around those lows can draw in much colder air from the north.

Well cold fronts have pushed through. The time between cold fronts gives the sun enough time to warm up the Texas air. And a cold front comes and chills the air. Also air pressure drops when it gets warm and when it rises the air gets cold. And depends on if a front is being
controled by high or low pressure zones. For a cold front or warm front.
