How do I stop my drumsticks from wearing out at the shoulder?
The ones I've got look like they're going to snap any second, I think its something to do with the way I hit the cymbals :/.

This is a very normal problem. The shoulder of the stick hits the edge of the cymbal and the cymbal chews up the stick. Its not necessarily a problem with your hitting technique, unless you are snapping sticks hours after buying them.
I used to break a set of sticks a day! But that wasn't at the shoulder, it was at the middle of the shaft. Mainly because of rim shots.
If the angle you hit the cymbal at with the stick is too steep, it could pose a threat to damaging the cymbals. Try either, angling the cymbals towards you more, or practice hitting the cymbals with the tip of the stick.
Good luck.

Adjustments. Lower cymbals and a higher seat. You could also angle the cymbals a little better.
