Dodge Avenger/Charger -- good/bad cars?
My mom is looking to buy a new car, and has driven Camrys for the past two years. However, we've had nothing but trouble from them -- they were good up till the month after the warranty expired, when everything started going wrong. We want to buy a new car that's domestic, and I happen to be a huge Mopar fan. However, I was wondering, in your honest opinion, are the 2008/9 Dodge Avenger and Charger worth it? I know Chrysler's had some issues in quality over the past twenty years or so, but I have no idea whether they improved or not when brought under Cerberus. Please give me your honest opinion, and if you really think American cars suck and Japanese cars are awesome, then you obviously are stuck in the 80's and have no idea how to get out -- don't bother wasting your time answering this question.

First the Avenger - underneath it is a Mitsubishi. The V6 engines are Chrysler's, the four is a "world engine" developed with Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

The Charger is based on the last generation Mercedes E-class.

Personally, I think a Ford Fusion is the way to go.

American cars have been troublesome for the past 20 years. They've been trying to keep up with imports on quantity scales. Not quality. Get a 20 year old Honda and it will still run. Get a 20 year old Dodge, it'll last you a lifetime if you rebuild it every ten years. I've got a '67 Camaro. She's in great shape but my dog is older than almost everything in it.

when my car was in the shop, i rented a 08 avenger and i have to say very smooth ride and absolutly great on gas. I was surprised. Nice looking car to and the sound system was aesome. Only flaw was the sight, the windows in the back are a little small so vision is tough sometimes but not a big factor. The charger is good but unless you are getting a hemi forget it.

lol dont listen to the guy above me...lol a ford fusion? seriously? HA!
Chrysler has a lot better quality than ford or chevy, always has.
Dodge builds great cars and even better trucks. These are very reliable, dependable cars. The Avenger/Charger looks like no other. Dodge has the spunk that others dont!

I own a Charger and I'm well pleased with it. I cannot comment on the Avenger. I spend a bit of time researching issue with the Charger, and I've been impressed. If you want to research more on the Charger go to www.chargerforums.com.

They are good cars, my friend had an avenger and it was a beast lol. I mean she did get into an accident, and not one scratch was on her car. It's a safe and reliable and she never had any problems with it. I'm surprised your moms camry had a problem though, because toyota's usually last a really long time if taken well care of.
