Iphone Contacts formatting?

Hi!

Im new to an IPhone.. and have these small doubts about squeezing the best out of the phone :)

1. I transferred my contacts from SIM to the phone, and see all numbers in the complete format.. +(Country Code)(Number)

now, when some 1 whos already on my phone book calls me, the phone doesnt detect that its the same person.. :(

the difference is, the phone shows a "Space" between the country code and the phone number.. and this is what i think is causing the problem.. Can you suggest a solution?

2. I want to wipe off the contacts on my phone... how can i do this?
